On the way

I promise to post pics of the princess this coming week...this past week was wayyyyy too hectic to post let alone post with pictures!

Now that Princess Jentry is on the way to recovery we hope to be back to normal at the Burns house this week! With that being said new pictures can be included in my posts this coming week...that is if I have time to post. Being out of my classroom 3 days straight will make Monday more manic than usual! Not to mention I'm not sure what we are doing in any of my classes tomorrow...nor do I have any copies or anything else ready! ARGH! Guess I better get my butt outta bed early and head to work to figure it all out! There isn't much I can do from here!

As for something new...we are working on getting Jentry to drink out of a sippy cup...however she absolutely refuses to do so. I don't know what to do...all I know is that in 17 days she is supposed to be weaned from a bottle and that doesn't look like it is going to happen...ugh...that might be my 1st failure as a parent...actually it will be my 2nd! I wanted her pacifier gone at 6 months, then 9 months, then Dr. Miller said to wait till a year...so that is quickly approaching and I'm a little nervous about taking away the green soothie pacifier Jentry loves so well...but I'm not waiting any longer...hopefully it will be a smooth transition! Pray for us :)

Too many titles

This post could have lots of titles...

Title #1: Crying over spilled milk...
Some people may say that I've done a lot of crying over spilled milk the last few days. However to those people I would say "you must never have had a child in the hospital on oxygen, receiving fluids via IV, with leads on their chest to watch their heart rate and breathing, for 60 hours." It is a sight that I've had to see 2 times in Jentry's short 11 months. It is a sight that I hope I never have to see again for as long as she lives.

Title #2: Thank you...
Jack and I would like to thank all of you who prayed for our Jentry (and us too) the past few days. We both know the power of prayer does wonders...and we believe that your prayers along with ours helped Jentry to get better.

Title #3: It feels good...
It feels so good to be at home. I can't wait to sleep in my own bed tonight. I know Jentry is much happier now that we are back at her castle...she has taken 2 naps in her crib, played a little, ate some food and now is sound asleep. I know I'm happy that I don't have to sleep in a uncomfortable recliner next to the metal crib Jentry was in. I'm happy that we don't have to spend our night listening to monitors going off or all of the sounds outside of Jentry's hospital room. It will be a nice quiet night here at home. I know Jack is happy to be sleeping in a bed that is not a uncomfortable couch and is long enough so his legs don't hang off the end. Now don't get us wrong, it was so nice to be able to stay at the hospital with Jentry, but I must say the accommodations are not the most comfortable!

Title #4: My rock
I must say that I am the luckiest woman on the face of this earth. I could not have picked a better man to marry or to be the father to our child. He was a very steady rock for both Jentry and I this past week. I know I've said this before...but he is wonderful and he keeps me in check when I fall off the wagon...that happens when your little one is in the hospital. He let me cry on his shoulder quite often this past week...it was a lot like when Jentry was in the NICU. It felt like DeJaVu...however this time we were able to stay in her room 24/7 with her. I know Jentry thinks her Dada is the best and she spent lots of time on his lap while she was in the hospital. He sat and held her for many hours the past few days. We are very lucky that he has a wonderful employer and that he was able to take the time off to be at the hospital with Jentry and I. I don't know how I would have made it through this ordeal without him. Thank you Jack for being a solid rock for Jentry and I. We both love you more than you know!

See...there are many titles this post could have had...but to sum it all up, we are very happy that Jentry is feeling well enough to be at home and we appreciate all the prayers that were said for our family this week.

A little better

That is Jentry is feeling a little better. We are still at CN and as far as we know we are waiting on Jentry to breathe on her own without the aid of oxygen (she did this for a few hours tonight but they had to put her back on the oxygen to sleep), she needs to have slower breath rates, and she needs to eat more. She was doing much better eating today. She isn't in the mood for "solid food" (that is baby food in a jar!) but she was willing to drink formula and watered down apple juice.

I wasn't a fan of juice...but when your baby needs to eat in order to get out of the hospital you will do whatever it takes...even if that means giving her some juice!

Jentry is doing better...she was standing in her crib tonight smiling...that is more like the Jentry we know and love...however this mama will tell you that she is DEFINITELY not herself...she is still wanting lots of cuddles on the lap of Jack or myself...however she does prefer to be in the lap of her daddy! She also has a cough that seems to be productive...this is good and means that she is working the gunk out of her lungs.

Right now she is sleeping peacefully and this is wonderful. It looks like tonight could be her first good night of sleep this week. We hope for that. Her little body needs the rest!

All for tonight. I will try to update after we talk to the Dr. tomorrow morning...we are hoping and praying that we get discharged tomorrow...but only time will tell.

One Worried Mama

I only have a few minutes...I just ran home to shower and I need to get back to my sweet Jentry...but I wanted to let you know that she was admitted to the Peds unit at CN hospital last night. The Dr. told us that she has pneumonia and will be there through the day today and possibly tomorrow too. Jentry is on oxygen, IV fluids, antibiotic, and hooked up to a heart/breathing monitor.

In order to come home she needs to be breathing on her own (not labored), taking in fluids (she has taken in about 5 oz today from a bottle) and her fever needs to break...it was 105.1 this morning.

Please pray for our baby girl. It is terribly hard for Jack and I to see her hooked up to all of these machines...so I guess pray for sanity for him and I too.

If I get a chance later, I will post any updates...but this is the info we have for now.

A good day

Today was a good day! Then again everyday I get to spend with Jentry is a good day! I enjoyed spending my day with our Princess Jentry...even though she spent the day wanting her dada dada dada!! As soon as he came home she followed him all over the place!

Sometimes I wish I only had to work part of the week and could spend a few days with Jentry throughout the week...but that isn't possible so...back to work I'll go tomorrow :(

If you've been reading the blog then you know that yesterday was Jentry's 11 month birthday and if you go back further than that you will see that we've had her pictures taken every month since she was a newborn...and this month was no different. Here are a few of her pictures that were taken today! Enjoy!

11 Months!!??!!

Yes, you read that title correctly...we've made it eleven months! I'm in tears as I write this...I can't believe my baby is 11 months old already. Our time with her has flown by! This month she has started to do so many things! She got another tooth, this time a top one is peeking through, crawls like a champ, pulls herself up on everything...including her mama's pants! Jentry will walk around things but doesn't quite have the balance to stand on her own yet. She is eating many jars of 3's a day along with egg whites, toast (no butter), pears (the real kind, not baby food!), yogurt with fruit and cereal. She has moved to a new classroom at "school" and her new teacher is Miss Rosie. She has started to show separation anxiety in the morning when Jack drops her off. Oh Yes...and the biggest thing she has started to do this month is spend time in TIME OUT!!! Yep...our wonderful little princess spends many 2 minute segments in time out! She doesn't like to listen and doesn't care when you punish her, so at our last visit with Dr. Miller I asked what we should do for a hard headed child...and she said TIME OUT...so that is what we are trying for now...anyhow, on with the show, here are some cute pictures we captured of her today! Enjoy...Smiling big for Daddy as she stands at the coffee table...Today she decided that she doesn't have enough toys...you can see some of them here...Instead she decided to play with a plastic margarita glass...she crawled all over the house while holding this glass! She is too funny! Before Jentry went to bed tonight, I was washing her dishes at the sink and preparing a bottle for her and Jack caught her trying to stand using my pants as a guide...PS that duck wubbanub pacifier you see in her mouth will not be around when she hits one year old. That is when Dr. Miller said we could take them away...so this is the last month for Plucky and her other pacifiers!

One Last Christmas

Last weekend we had one last Christmas with my mom's side of the family. Many of us have to travel so this was the best weekend for us all to gather at my parents house...or so we thought...then the snow tried to hamper traveling...but it didn't work! My aunt and uncle made the trip from Iowa and got in before the snow started. The J Squad traveled up on Friday night and avoided driving in snow. My brother and his family came in on Saturday and also dodged the snow!! So much for checking the forecast...those weathermen are never right :)

Anyhow...it was great to see everyone and my mom bought special outfits (over a year ago!!) for the 3 girls and really wanted their pictures taken...here are some of the shots...We didn't get 1 good picture with our camera :( There were 3 others taking pictures as well...maybe one of them has a good shot! Here they are...These are 2 of the 15 shots I have of the 3 girls. Jentry is almost 11 months old and is in green, Carly (my cousin's daughter) is almost 23 months old and is in pink and Millie is 16 months old and is in black. So you can see trying to get just 1 good shot was a difficult task!

After trying to take a picture of the 3 girls we added their male counterparts to the picture and tried to take a good picture of all of the Wyse Great-grandchildren...here is one of those shots. In this shot we added Noah who is on the couch and Obi and Issac who are on the floor. Again we tried for a good shot but that is tough!

As if those were enough pictures for Jentry, I wanted a family picture of the J Squad since we didn't have any taken on or around Christmas and after multiple shots were taken, this one ended up as one of the best.I guess I will have to crop Noah's head out of the picture! One last picture for you...my cousin-in-law Adam got a tool box in the grab bag and it was just the right size for Jentry to sit in...she enjoyed some playtime inside Adam's new toolbox! Silly girl :)

No More McKmama for Me

I'm mad...and I'm going to blog about it. For most of my blog readers you won't care about this ...because it's not Jentry related...but I'm still blogging about it. I used to follow McKmama's blog because we shared a common bond, having a child born with SVT, however the more I learn about her the more I don't like her and I'm not going to follow her or promote her site so that she gets money.

I'm going to tell you why I'm mad...there are 2 reasons...#1 the family must not pay their bills because it is a fact that their previous house got foreclosed on...they claim to be "good Christian people" however I'm pretty sure it says in the Bible to pay all of your debts...not that I'm a Bible beater or anything, but don't claim to be something you really aren't...and they now live in a new house...what is that crap? #2 again this family doesn't pay their bills...they already have 4 children and now are pregnant with the 5th...OMG!!! GET REAL! Needless to say...she's boycotted here at the J Squad.

You can follow her if you want, but I'm done!

Eating Eggs

Yesterday Daddy made Jentry an egg white for breakfast. It was her first try at feeding herself "real" food. She has had puffs, wagon wheels, sticks and biter biscuits, but those are snacks...eggs are REAL food! Anyhow, she loved it! Here are some pictures of her enjoying her egg white! She is such a good eater!Lots of Egg white on my food trayOpen wide!! Look at me...I'm feeding myself! I'm a big girl :) Sometimes I have a little trouble hitting my mouth...but what do you expect. I'm still learning about this eating thing!

Happy New Year!

The J Squad would like to wish all of our readers a Happy New Year. We hope 2010 is a good year for everyone.

For New Years Eve we enjoyed a nice dinner together and a relaxing evening at home. Jentry and Jack were sleeping before midnight...I missed the ball dropping because I was watching stupid human tricks on Letterman! It was just another night with The J Squad!

Another Wonderful Christmas

The weekend after Christmas we traveled to "God's Country" so that we could enjoy Christmas with my family. We had a great time and it was so nice to see my brother and his family. I miss his kids...especially my nephew Noah. **Side story for those of you who don't know...for a year from May 2006 to May 2007 I traveled to Chicago every weekend to take classes in order to get my teaching license. During that time I got to spend every Friday with Jon, Tonya and Noah. Many weekends Jon and Tonya would enjoy an evening out and I would feed Noah dinner, give him a bath (sometimes dinner in the bath tub :) ) read him a story and put him to bed. I feel like I share a special bond with Noah because I got to spend a lot of time with him during the first year of his life.** His daughter Millie is super sweet too, but I just haven't been able to spend a lot of time with her since I was 2-3 months pregnant when she was born. She lets it be known that she doesn't like Mimi or Pop to hold Jentry and not her too! I know Jentry and Millie will be great friends in due time!
Anyhow, it was great to spend some quality time with them and my parents.

We also got to see all 3 of my Grandparents, along with a few of my aunts, uncles, and cousins since we missed seeing everyone on Christmas day.Of course we exchanged gifts with Noah, Millie, Mimi and Pop. We decided that we were only going to do gifts for the children this year. Jentry got so many nice things from Jon and Tonya and Mimi and Pop. Jentry enjoying the paper as much as she did the gift inside! She is still a little young to really "get" Christmas.Aunt Jenna and Millie admiring one of Aunt Jenna's new sweaters...like I said Millie opened any gift she could! She was too cute!

Mimi and Pop bought Jentry a new car seat, had a rocking chair specially painted for Millie, and got Noah a gator just like Pops! It was so cool to see his face light up when he climbed onto the gator and turned it on! Millie loves her new rocking chair, and we are excited that we only have to buy 1 new car seat when Jentry is ready to move out of her "pumpkin" seat. Millie enjoying her hand painted rocking chair!Millie tore into everyone's gifts...she didn't care who's name was on it, they were all for her in her eyes! It was very chaotic having 3 little ones open gifts...it was hard to control any of them!

Jentry and Millie don't know it yet but Pop is going to build...or buy (I'm not sure which one yet) a really neat playhouse for them to enjoy. I know they are both too little to enjoy it now, but in a year or two, I'm sure we won't be able to get them out of it!

Aunt Tonya handmade Jentry a tutu. It is so cute! Here she is trying it on to see how it fit. Jentry isn't so sure about it, but I know she will love it! Every little girl loves to be a ballerina!

I know this post is a bit disorganized, but that is when you get when you are trying to blog a Christmas like this one! I also HATE how blogspot does pictures, they are very hard to work with. It is very annoying!
