Jentry's Room

Yesterday Jack and I nearly completed Jentry's room. We only need a few more furniture items and her valance/drapes and the room will be totally done!!! I can't wait for her to arrive. We spent last weekend hanging her name...and what an experience that was! Jack and I spent last Sunday measuring her wall and computing to get her letters hung just right...so Jack got out his laser level and put marks where all the nails needed to go...hung all the nails, put the letters up...and much to our dismay they were all about 7 inches too far to the right! So off come the letters, out come the nails, the holes were all patched and we completed the entire process again. And walah, here is the finished product! We love her letters! Thanks Mom, or soon to be Mimi (Grandma)!

After hanging her letters we moved on to the flowers that are on the opposite wall, they weren't so bad to hang, but Jack feels that we need to add one more...my Mom says you always hang things in odd numbers so we only have 5 right now, but we might add another green flower before things are all said and done. We will have to see who wins this battle, Jentry's daddy or her Mimi! Below you can see her flowers. I had to take this picture at an angle so you don't really get a good idea of what the flowers really look like, but they add a nice splash of color to Jentry's wall!

Finally yesterday we bought a mattress so that we could get Jentry's crib all put together. We let it air out a bit, washed the mattress pad, and then put her bed together. Jack even helped put the bumper on! I love her bedding, it's not too babyish or too girly but is still really pretty...again thanks Mom :) My mom has been a HUGE help in getting all of the furnishings for Jentry's room...they were awesome shower gifts and Jack and I really appreciated them.

We also ordered Jentry's carseat/stroller travel system yesterday that way in case she comes early we will be all ready. Her clothes are washed and we are "ready" for her arrival...I don't know that we are mentally ready, but at least we have all of the necessities in order to bring her home!

Christmas Eve Eve

Today is Christmas Eve, Eve and Jack and I will be going to dinner and then to Christmas Eve church service tonight. I finished all of our Christmas shopping yesterday so now all we have to do is get our house ready for company on Christmas day and do some grocery shopping! Jack is going to open his gifts tonight from Jentry and I...I can't wait to see his face when he opens his gift from Jentry...I hope he likes it! I enjoyed making it for him :) He got me a necklace from Tiffany&co and will hopefully be getting the charms to go with it, one for Jentry and one for our wedding anniversary. I have a rockin' husband and I love spending time with him. Tomorrow Jack has to work 1/2 day and then he will have his Christmas party and get his bonus...yeah!! We are blessed to have him work for such a great employer, they treat him wonderfully and give him a great bonus for the holidays. He works very hard and deserves this bonus.

We had a surprise 60th birthday party for my mom this past weekend and boy oh boy was she surprised! It was awesome to see her face, she didn't want to walk in the room! There were 75 people wearing black and waiting for her arrival!! After we got her in the building Jon and Tonya had a second surprise for her...they had hired an Elvis impersonator...so he came out and sang to her...she was in tears, it was wonderful! She had such a great time, I'm so glad Dad took the time to do this for her!

Just Getting Started

I've never done this blog thing before, but with a baby on the way I figure this will be one of the easiest ways for Mimi and Papaw Kauffman (I don't think my parents know what we want our kids to call them yet...but this is what I hope my children call them since they already have a Nana and Grandpa on my hubby's side) to see pictures of Jentry when she finally arrives. I picked the name The J Squad since some day my hope is for our whole Burns clan to have J names. We have started out as planned at this point since we are Jack and Jenna, and we are patiently awaiting the arrival of our first child who we are told is a girl and we plan to name her Jentry. Eventually we also hope to have a boy and name him Jackson that would complete our J Squad! Tonight is baby class for Jack and I and we get to see the Maternity wing at the hospital where I will deliver Jentry...I can't wait to see the rooms and what lies ahead for us! I don't think Jack or I have a clue as to what we are really in for once Jentry gets here! I am looking forward to our last Christmas with just the two of us, I love spending time with Jack and I hope this is still the case when Jentry arrives. Jack and I still have a lot of shopping to do...so I hope the weather is good for us on Christmas eve when we will finally have the time to do all of our shopping! UGH and this weekend I have to shop for a new vehicle...I can't bring J-dog (Jentry) home in my 2 door Solara....so I'm going to try my luck in the car world...I HATE SHOPPING FOR A NEW CAR!!! Car salespeople are so slimy and pushy...but that is for another day, I'm off to make grilled cheeses for Jack and I!
